#FCCLAShowsUP – Using Social Media in an Impactful Way
By Lauren Cole, VP of Public Relations
Hello, FCCLA members! Now that the new school year is in full swing, ask yourself, “What impact am I going to make on those around me?” Whether it is staying after school to help tutor your friend in math or coming early for a club meeting, you have the power to make a difference in the lives of those around you.
Social media is a powerful tool that can lift others up, but it can also tear them down. This school year, I encourage you to do something positive with your accounts. Social media is a huge part of so many lives, and it can really affect how others view you. So instead of posting about how bummed out you were because you didn’t get tickets to that concert last week, post about how excited you are to spend time with your chapter doing a community service project. Post encouraging and uplifting quotes every now and then because you never know who might read it and be thankful that you did. Tweet and comment on your fellow FCCLA members’ pages, and encourage them to follow their dreams.
Using social media is a wonderful way to show some love to others, but it’s also a great way to spread the word about The Ultimate Leadership Experience. This month National FCCLA encourages you to use your social media to post about FCCLA using the hashtag #FCCLAShowsUP. Tweet out our new PSA to your followers and share posts from your local chapter and your state—be creative! By using your social media to encourage others and posting about how amazing our organization is, we can gain some new friends who are ready to discover the Unlimited Possibilities that FCCLA holds for them!
Leave a little sparkle wherever you go,
