March Membership Madness
By Uriel Martinez, VP of Membership
We are excited to have launched our Membership Madness Campaign for the month of March!
This is the time to show off your spirit for our organization. We are excited to see what you and your chapters have in store for membership recruitment. Show us your best stuff!
Our membership goal for the 2016-2017 school year is 165,000 members. Last year, we had the privilege of meeting our membership goal, thanks to all of your efforts. We currently have a membership of approximately 155,000 members. Let’s join together for a final push toward our goal!
Here are some easy ways to recruit members during March Membership Madness:
1. “Bring a Friend” meeting
Host a “bring a friend” meeting featuring an ice-breaker exercise, a brief FCCLA orientation, and light snacks. Each member must bring a friend with them to the meeting.
2. Food for informational meeting
Partner with a local business to provide food at your chapter meeting. This gives you an opportunity to recruit members and who doesn’t love free food?
3. Create a membership committee to focus on new ways to bring in members
This is a student-led organization, so have some of your students create a committee for membership recruitment. The committee’s main focus is to create new recruitment ideas for a youth audience.
4. WIIFM- “What’s In It For Me?”
When recruiting potential members, be sure to highlight how membership in FCCLA will specifically benefit them. Try promoting Competitive Events, service learning, scholarships, career preparation and even travel.
5. Host a meeting with other organizations in your school
Plan a meeting with other similar organizations in your school. Consider planning a community event or other school activity together.
We are thrilled about your membership recruitment efforts! Click here to apply for the membership toolkit.
Please keep it up. Let’s share The Ultimate Leadership Experience with everyone and beat our goal of 165,000 members!
