Our member spotlight is Kendra Michael from the West Lyon FCCLA Chapter in Iowa. She’s done significant work in Haiti, selling duct tape flower pens to raise funds to pay for her travel expenses so she can help those in need. Once she got to Haiti, she taught the girls there to make duct tape flower pens as well. Kendra sells these pens, and the money goes to sponsor children in the Touch of Hope Haiti School. To see more about Kendra’s trips and project, check out her website or Facebook page. FCCLA is proud of you, Kendra!

Dec9 Chapter Photo 2

This year, the Parkston FCCLA Chapter in South Dakota has focused much of its attention raising funds to help a sophomore FCCLA chapter member who has been diagnosed with Aplastic anemia. They partnered with the high school volleyball team and the girls basketball team to host a tailgate benefit before a football game and raised over $10,000 for her medical expenses and family. Along with that, they did a bone marrow registry drive where anyone between the ages of 18-45 could become a registered bone marrow donor through They also sold “Strength for Sam” t-shirts, with all proceeds going to her family. They just finished making Thanksgiving pies for a community meal and are now collecting gifts for an angel tree as the holiday season approaches. National FCCLA is very proud of the Parkston FCCLA Chapter from South Dakota!

Dec9 Adviser photo

Our adviser spotlight is on Mrs. Jenny Watson. She was a state officer for Virginia FHA and loves FCCLA so much that she and a few other friends wore the FHA red blazers at her wedding. She even got married on June 11th, FHA/FCCLA’s birthday. She has the largest FCCLA chapter in the state of North Carolina with more than 400 members! Like many advisers, she is dedicated and committed and is a part of Alumni & Associates. We’re privileged to still have you, Mrs. Watson!
