| LP PENCIL Box is a free school supply store for educators that provides learning materials for impoverished students in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. They are able to provide educational & art supplies through the support of local businesses, organizations and individuals throughout the year. LP PENCIL Box is a partnership between the Nashville business community and the city's public schools. Many students come to school without the supplies they need to learn because their families are struggling financially. Teachers spend their own money each year on classroom supplies. LP PENCIL Box allows teachers to shop free twice a school year for supplies, a value of around $250 per visit.
By donating both new and gently used school supplies, surplus office supplies, and art supplies, you can help meet a critical need in Metro Schools.
Why Donate to LP PENCIL Box According to the state report card, 74 percent of Metro School students are on free and reduced lunch, the federal definition of poverty. Unfortunately, many families can't afford to purchase the necessary supplies children need in the classroom. Your donations help get school supplies into the hands of the students who need them the most.
What is Needed Donations to LP PENCIL Box can include many items. Teachers need basic school supplies for their economically disadvantaged students but they can also use surplus office supplies, decorations for classrooms and other miscellaneous items. It’s amazing how creative they can get with items you may consider tossing!
Most needed items for summer stocking:
- backpacks
- primary paper
- flash cards
- pocket folders
- cleaning supplies
- awards-puzzles; games; etc.
- construction paper
- dry erase markers/erasers
