    • Lyft: Cost estimate is $45-80 one-way
    • Uber: Cost estimate is $51-75 one-way
    • Taxi: Cost estimate is $63-71 one way. A $3.00 airport surcharge plus fare. Fares are calculated $3.50 for the first ¼ mile, and each additional ¼ mile is $0.54 each and a $0.54 for each 80 seconds of waiting time. There is a $1.50 for each additional passenger. If a toll is charged on the trip then it will be added to the final meter rate (provided passenger was informed of the toll or given an alternate route). Only use the Washington Flyer taxicabs leaving the Washington Dulles airport.
    • Metrorail: Cost estimate is $8.35 one-way per person. The Silver Line Express Bus provides a connection from the airport to the Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail station on the silver line. The bus ride is approximately 15 minutes, costs $5.00 one way per person, and runs every 15-20 minutes. Check out the metro’s trip planner for connecting from the Wiehle-Reston East station to the closest stop to the hotel.

    • Train: Cost estimate is $12 one-way per person. BWI Marshall Airport offers free, frequent shuttle service between the MARC/Amtrak station and the airport. Shuttles run 24 hours a day every 10 minutes. Go to www.amtrak.com to reserve your train seats from the BWI MARC/Amtrak station to Union Station, D.C.

Local Transportation

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of popular attractions including the U.S. Capitol, the National Mall, and the Smithsonian Museums. It is also minutes from Union Station, with numerous transportation options, including Washington, D.C. Metro and buses.

Lyft and Uber are available throughout the district area.

Metrorail (Metro): This is the cheapest and easiest way to get around the city. The Metro costs approximately $2.20 - $6.00 per ride per person depending on the distance and the time of day (peak or off-peak).  SmarTrip fare cards can be purchased at each metro station and allow you to load money onto the card for your ride. Metro offers daily passes as well. It is best to use Metro’s Trip Planner to calculate your trip fare to ensure you have the correct amount on your SmarTrip card. The closest station to the Hyatt Regency hotel is Union Station.

DC Circulator BusThe bus is $1 for all riders and travels along six specific routes designed for easy-on, easy-off access at points of interest throughout the district. You can pay with exact change, SmarTrip card, or a seven-day WMATA regional bus pass. This bus will explore neighborhoods such as Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, Georgetown, Woodley Park, U Street, and Capitol Hill. The bus offers a dedicated National Mall route for super easy access to DC’s monuments and memorials. Buses run every 10 minutes.

Rental Bikes: Those who like to explore the city on two wheels have various choices. Unlimited Biking and Capital Bikeshare offer rental bikes from stations across DC. Ride apps need to be downloaded to use the bike services. Use caution when riding in the city.

Local Parking

  • Hyatt Regency Hotel Parking
    • Self-Parking is available at this time across the street at 415 New Jersey Avenue, NW (adjacent to the Yotel) for $50 per night or at Union Station for $24 per day.
    • Valet Parking is available for $33 for 0-2 hours, $46 for 2-10 hours, and $62 per day (10-24 hours).
    • The parking garage has a clearance of six feet - oversize vehicles are $66 per day
  • Washington, D.C. Parking

    Go to Spothero.com, and enter Washington, D.C. for area parking venues and prices. Ensure you will have in and out privileges or access to your vehicle at all times.

  • Oversized Vehicle/Bus Parking

    Motorcoaches are precluded from traveling within certain locations on and around the grounds of the U.S. Capitol and utilizing many of the residential streets in the Capitol Hill Historic District. Motorcoach operators are also required to have apportioned plates or obtain permits for operation in the District. For up-to-date information on all motorcoach news, information and regulations, visit GoDCGo.com.

    The Union Station Bus Terminal is designed to accommodate a number of tour and charter buses and offers convenient drop-off locations for tour groups. There are 32 bus spaces available daily, and parking permits are issued on a first-come, first serve basis. Only reservations are guaranteed a parking space.

    Rates vary depending upon the time blocks through which the vehicle will be parked. If the vehicle is parked during multiple time blocks, then the combined rates of those time blocks will be applied. Only parking reservations are sold at a flat rate and allow in and out privileges. All other parking permits expire upon exiting the building (even if there is time left on the permit) and a new permit must be purchased for re-entry. Bus parking may be reserved by sending an email including the requested dates and times to businfo@uspgllc.com.

    Off Peak and Non-Special Event Rates are in effect when it is not tourism season (July-February) or when there isn’t a special event happening at the station. Peak & Special Event Rates are in effect from July-February and whenever a special event occurs at the station.

    Pick up and drop off for charter and/or tour buses are strictly prohibited in front of Union Station, Columbus Plaza, and/or Massachusetts Ave. All violators will be ticketed immediately. These services are only valid within the Bus Deck Facility. Please make your drivers aware of this policy.
