Skill Demonstration Events

Students have the opportunity to compete in Skill Demonstration Events during the National Fall Conference in Birmingham, AL. Skill Demonstration Events provide opportunities for FCCLA members to demonstrate college and career readiness skills in Family and Consumer Sciences and related occupations. These events serve as an introduction to FCCLA’s Competitive Events and require a shorter time commitment than STAR Events projects. See the events offered at this National Fall Conference below.

*Important Policy Update for 2023-2024*

Participants are now allowed to compete in either one (1) Skill Demonstration Event or the FCCLA/LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl, and each member can also register for up to ten (10) Online Challenge Tests. However, please note that due to potential scheduling conflicts, members cannot participate in multiple Skill Demonstration Events or both a Skill Demonstration Event and the FCCLA/LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl. The 2023-2024 Competitive Events Guidelines have been updated to reflect this policy change. 


Registration Prices:

  • Skill Demonstration Events $35 (+ Conference Registration)
  • Online Challenge Tests: $25 (+ Conference Registration)

    • Registration closes for Skill Demonstration Events and Challenge Tests

    • Online Challenge Testing Window
  • November 10

    • 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM: Skill Demonstration Events Consultants/Evaluators Orientation
    • 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Skill Demonstration Competitions
  • November 11

    • 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Closing Session and Recognition of Skill Demonstration Event Winners
