Competitive Events Dates to Remember
The dates and deadlines outlined below are for National Competitive Events. Check with your State Adviser for specific dates and deadlines for state level competitions.
December 1, 2023
- Online STAR Events registration opens in the FCCLA Adviser Portal > Meetings and Events.
FEBRUARY 1, 2024
- Online STAR Events, Preliminary Round registration and submission deadline.
FEBRUARY 5 – march 1, 2024
- Round 2 of the Virtual Business Challenge (Fashion & Personal Finance).
March 1 - 31, 2024
- Top 16 Knowledge Bowls teams take the spring TeamSmarts Quiz by March 31. We also ask teams 17-24 to take the quiz for practice, in the case they are invited to participate as an alternate.
MARCH 15, 2024
- Online STAR Events and National Leadership Conference qualifiers are announced.
- The Top 16 Knowledge Bowl teams must confirm National Championship participation by February 1 by completing the RSVP Form. We also ask that teams 17-24 to also complete the RSVP form so we can contact alternates if a Top 16 team can no longer attend.
APRIL 1 – 5, 2024
- National Championship Round of the Virtual Business Challenge (Fashion & Personal Finance)
APRIL 10, 2024
- Online Orientation Form and video released.
MAY 1 - 31, 2024
- All National Leadership Conference participants in Parliamentary Procedure will take their required test during the online testing window, May 1-31, 2024. Instructions will be sent out prior to the participant and their chapter adviser prior to the testing window. Learn More.
May 3, 2024
- Competitive Event registration deadline states with state meetings before 4/25.
May 15, 2024
- Competitive Event registration deadline for states with state meetings after 4/25.
JUNE 3, 2024
- STAR Events locations and logistical information for STAR participants and volunteers will be posted online and in the FCCLA Adviser Portal.
June 7, 2024
- Parliamentary Procedure Online Testing Proctor Form due (click here to submit).
JUNE 17, 2024
- STAR Events Online Orientation Form due in the FCCLA Student Portal under the Surveys and Applications tab.
- Confirm NLC STAR Events Schedules in the FCCLA Portal under Meetings & Events > Confirm STAR Competition.
- Confirm NLC Volunteer Assignments in the FCCLA Portal under Meetings & Events > Volunteer Confirmation

- Testing window for Knowledge Bowl teams to register and take the FCCLA TeamSmarts quiz by September 27, 2023.
October 3, 2023
- Virtual Business Challenge (Fashion & Personal Finance) registration opens at 10:00 am (EST).
October 4, 2023
- Top 40 Knowledge Bowl Teams Announced.
October 11, 2023
- Skill Demonstration Events Registration Deadline.
- Online Challenge Test Registration Deadline.
October 16 – November 9, 2023
- Round 1 of the Virtual Business Challenge (Fashion & Personal Finance).
October 18, 2023
- Confirmation emails sent to all Skill Demonstration Events and Online Challenge Tests participants and advisers.
October 23 - 27, 2023
- Testing window opens for Online Challenge Tests. Testing site open from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm (EST).
October 31, 2023
- Online Challenge Test Proctor Form due here.
