Sitting down to enjoy a family meal with the realities of 21st Century lifestyles is a challenge. Yet, there are many positive long-term benefits of gathering around the dinner table to enjoy a meal with your family such as: promote healthy lifestyles, strengthen family ties, improve students’ academic performance, and lessen the likelihood of youth engaging in negative behaviors. FCCLA’s initiative, FCCLA@TheTable, encourages members to plan, prepare, and share healthy meals for their families. The ultimate goal is to engage youth in planning and preparing healthy meals for their family and to increase planned and prepared family meals nationwide.
