Make your FCCLA National Leadership Conference experience possible by applying for an FCCLA Access Scholarship.

FCCLA understands that circumstances may not enable all student members to attend the National Leadership Conference without financial assistance. Therefore, this year seventeen (17) Travel and Attendance Access Scholarships ($2,500) will be awarded to aid a student member in offsetting the cost of attending the 2024 FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Seattle, WA.

All nationally affiliated student members in good standing are eligible to apply for the 2024 Access Scholars Program. Students must also have the support of their chapter adviser and school administration to travel to the 2024 National Leadership Conference.

These Access Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need, academic merit, community engagement, and school/FCCLA involvement. All applicants will need to be able to demonstrate financial need.

EACH SCHOLARSHIP WILL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Full Conference Registration
  • Up To Six (6) Night Hotel Stay
  • Flight/Travel
  • Meal Stipend
  • Ground Transportation
  • Official Uniform for Students
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS

    Conference Registration:

    • The Access Scholarship includes full conference registration for the student member for the 2024 National Leadership Conference. This registration also includes the special event and the After Party.

    HOUSING:

    • Housing will be provided at a conference hotel of FCCLA’s choice. National staff will coordinate booking hotel rooms. Each scholarship recipient will be in a shared room with another student scholarship recipient.

    FLIGHTS/TRAVEL:

    • FCCLA national staff will coordinate with scholarship winners to book flights
    • Each scholarship recipient will be provided a travel stipend to cover the cost of ground transportation to and from the airport and conference hotel.

    PER DIEM (mEALS):

    • Each scholarship recipient will receive a meal stipend in the form of a prepaid gift card. 

    OFFICIAL UNIFORM:

    • This scholarship will also provide the student members with the following uniform items each; one (1) red blazer, two (2) white button-up shirts, and two (2) pairs of black slacks or skirts. FCCLA national staff will coordinate ordering the uniform items and shipping to the recipients before the National Leadership Conference.

  • Top 25 Applicants Notification: February 16, 2024
  • Scholarship Announcement: April 8, 2024

SELECTION CRITERIA:

FCCLA’s Inclusion, Access, Equity and Diversity (IAED) Committee will serve as the review panel for these scholarships. While the committee will take into consideration extenuating circumstances such as; recent job loss, illness and injury, the ideal scholarship recipient will have demonstrated financial hardship and/or is from a low-income family, has a strong academic record, and is highly involved in their FCCLA chapter, school, and community.

The review panel will select individuals whom they believe are most likely to leverage this learning opportunity. They will seek candidates who are eager to learn, has not attended a national leadership conference and plan to apply the skills and knowledge gained to benefit their careers, their FCCLA Chapter and their communities.  All decisions of the scholarship selection panel are final. National Officer Candidates are advised against applying for the Access Scholarship. Should you choose to apply for the scholarship and are selected by your state to run as a National Officer Candidate while also being selected as an Access Scholar, you will be required to relinquish your Access Scholarship.

PLEASE NOTE: The Top 25 Semi-Finalists will be contacted by FCCLA National Staff to schedule a virtual interview.


EXPECTATIONS OF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS:

  • If selected to receive one of the Access Scholarships, the student member must confirm their ability to attend the 2024 National Leadership Conference in Seattle, Washington from June 29 to July 3.
  • The student member must also be willing to sign a release form so they can be featured in conference promotions, including--but not limited to--live appearances on stage, press and video interviews, and sessions with sponsors and FCCLA board/committee members.
  • FCCLA will provide scholarship recipients with a conference schedule outlining sessions and workshops that they are expected to attend and provide feedback.
  • Scholarship recipients will also be expected to participate in a follow-up interview with FCCLA staff to discuss their experiences and share what they learned.

Application Requirements 

Student members need to prepare materials in advance and should have the following items ready to complete their application. All items must be submitted via the online scholarship application form found on FCCLA’s Website by February 2, 2024. No late submissions will be accepted.

  • FCCLA Student Member ID# - If you do not know your ID# please contact your chapter adviser to provide it.
  • Signed Letter of support from a School Administrator.
  • Signed letter of support from your Chapter Adviser.
  • Signature Page   
  • Letter of explanation of your current financial need. This letter should be no more than 750 words and can be completed by a Parent/Guardian. (30 Points)
  • Current extracurricular and community involvement résumé that includes out-of-classroom activities that you have participated in and outline contributions you’ve made to FCCLA and your community. Your résumé should be no more than two (2) pages and must be formatted as a .pdf document. (20 Points)
  • Responses the following essay prompts:
    • Written Essay: Please share about the biggest obstacle/challenge you have faced. Essay should be no more than 250 words. (25 Points)
    • Video Essay Response: Please share your career goals and how attending NLC will help you reach those goals to make your FCCLA experience the Ultimate Journey in a no more than 2-minute video response.  (25 Points)
