100 Deadliest Days are here, urging teens to drive safe

JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) - We are upon the deadliest stretch of days for teen drivers.

Teens are out of school and excited to go and do what they please with their summer break.

However, with more teens on the road along with increased travel for summer vacations, this can add up to create a deadly equation on the roadways.

Grant Hubbley, Former FCCLA National Officer, tells us about the 100 deadliest days and a new perspective.

“The 100 Deadliest Days is known as a period of time throughout the summer where there’s a big spike in teen traffic crashes and fatalities. Since this has been a known thing through research in the past few years, the National Road Safety Foundation and SADD have twisted that to become the 100 safest days of summer,” Hubbley said.

The National Road Safety Foundation, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and FCCLA are teaming up to turn the ’100 Deadliest Days’ into the ’100 Safest Days.’

The move urges teens to make smart choices behind the wheel, speak up when someone shouldn’t drive, and say no to a ride that doesn’t feel safe.
