National Finalists

FCCLA National Finalists represent the highest level of achievement across FCCLA Competitive Events. These individuals and teams have demonstrated excellence in Family and Consumer Sciences education by applying technical knowledge, leadership skills, and real world problem solving aligned with the FCCLA Career Clusters framework.

Throughout the year, competitors participated in virtual and in person rounds, performance based assessments, technical skill demonstrations, academic testing, and business simulations. Some events culminate in live competition at the National Leadership Conference, while others conclude through national rankings, virtual championship rounds, or official online recognition. In every format, National Finalists have distinguished themselves through preparation, precision, collaboration, and innovation.

The students and teams recognized below have earned national distinction within their respective events and exemplify FCCLA’s commitment to preparing learners for career opportunities that support the family. FCCLA proudly celebrates these National Finalists for their achievement and leadership.

Challenge Tests, Presented by G-W Publisher

FCCLA Challenge Tests provide individual members the opportunity to demonstrate college and career readiness through rigorous assessments aligned to Family and Consumer Sciences standards. Participants may compete during the fall online testing window or in person at the National Leadership Conference. National Finalists are recognized based on top national scores within each Challenge Test area, earning distinction for high level academic and technical performance.

FCCLA/LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl

The FCCLA/LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl is a fast paced, team based competition that challenges five member teams to demonstrate knowledge across six content areas: Personal Finance; Consumer Rights and Responsibilities; Technology; Health and Safety; Environment; and FCCLA Knowledge. Teams first compete in two virtual TeamSmarts quiz rounds. The top 40 teams based on Round 1 performance qualify as National Finalists and earn the opportunity to compete in person at the National Leadership Conference, where cumulative scores determine advancement to the championship match held during a general session.

Skill Demonstration Events

Skill Demonstration Events allow FCCLA Members to showcase specific technical skills gained through classroom instruction and FCCLA participation. These events are offered at the national level and evaluated using standardized criteria. National Finalists are recognized based on top scoring performances in each event offered at the National Leadership Conference.

STAR Events

Students Taking Action with Recognition, known as STAR Events, are project based Competitive Events in which members research an identified issue, develop a comprehensive project, and present their work for evaluation. Participants advance through regional or district and state levels before reaching national competition. National Finalists are the top scoring entries in each event and level following national evaluation.
