Safety experts urge parents to talk with teen drivers as summer crash risk lingers

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) --As summer winds down and students head back to school, safety experts are urging families to have direct conversations with their teen drivers about staying safe on the road.

Teen traffic deaths spike during the summer months, and the risks can climb even more with end-of-summer trips, after-school activities and busier roads. With more teens driving to school and activities, experts say it’s an important time for parents and guardians to reinforce safe driving habits.

Grant Hubley, vice president of FCCLA, spoke about the “100 Safest Days” campaign and ways parents can help keep young drivers safe behind the wheel.
