Please note schedule is tentative and subject to change. Please check back prior to the conference for any changes. Listed below are descriptions for some highlights of the conference.


Member Sessions

  • State Meetings

    Gather with others from your state delegation to talk about the week ahead and/or gather to caucus for the National Officer elections.

  • Say Yes to FCS Signing Ceremony

    This year, FCCLA will host the fifth Say Yes to FCS signing ceremony! Seniors who have Said Yes to FCS and plan to enroll in FCS education programs in college are invited to attend this special event and show their commitment to Family and Consumers Sciences. Pre-registration is required to be included in the ceremony.

  • Fashion Show

    Members are invited to participate in the FCCLA Fashion Show that will take place during the Business/Recognition Session. Youth members will be selected to showcase their designs. You do not have to be a STAR Events competitor to be part of the show but must be registered for the conference and registered for the Fashion Show to be considered.

  • Show & Share

    Show & Share is your chance to get a closer look at outstanding National Programs and STAR Event projects from chapters around the nation.

  • Youth Presentations

    Engage in interactive workshops and bring exciting new ideas back home to your chapter.

  • Career Pathway Demonstrations

    Career representatives will provide hands-on demonstrations to students and advisers.

  • AAFCS Pre-Professional Assessment & Certification In Personal And Family Finance

    Special Certification Opportunity for FCCLA Student Members Attending the In-Person Conference - Showcase Your Financial Literacy Knowledge and Skills!

    Have you taken a class in Personal and Family Finance at your school? Have you participated in the FCCLAPre-PAC logo Financial Fitness National Program? Have you explored the "Hands on Banking" courses for youth? If you answered "YES" to any of those questions, then YOU can take advantage of a special certification opportunity at the in-person 2021 National Leadership Conference! FCCLA members who have completed 10-12 or who are current post-secondary students/members can sit for the AAFCS Pre-Professional Assessment and Certification (Pre-PAC) in Personal and Family Finance in Nashville, TN. Topic areas on the certification exam include:

    1. Financial Responsibility and Decision Making
    2. Income and Careers
    3. Planning and Money Management
    4. Credit and Debt
    5. Risk Management and Insurance
    6. Saving and Investing

A qualifying score on the assessment will earn you Pre-Professional Certification in Personal and Family Finance. Add this certification to your portfolio to showcase and validate your savvy financial skills!

  • NLC After Party

    Come celebrate the end of the in-person National Leadership Conference and hang out with all the friends you met during the week. Dress casually and relax before heading home with all that you have learned. The After Party will take place after the Closing General Session on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM. The venue, Rocketown, is within walking distance from the Omni Nashville Hotel. Pre-registration is required.

    Price: $25 per person includes: music, snacks, water, and games.


Adviser Sessions

  • New State Advisers Training

    This special training is for State Advisers attending in-person with less than four years of experience. New(er) State Advisers should attend this session to learn from experienced State Advisers how to make sure their state has a successful experience at the National Leadership Conference.

  • State Adviser NLC Launch

    State Advisers attending in-person are invited to this special NLC launch to receive the latest details about the conference and seek answers to questions they may have about the conference.

  • LEAD FCS & State Adviser Reception

    State Advisers and Lead FCS members attending in-person are invited to this special reception to celebrate their work and the start of the National Leadership Conference.

  • First Time Attendee Session

    Advisers attending NLC for the first-time should attend this session to learn about everything offered at this year's in-person conference presented by National FCCLA staff. Pre-registration required.

  • Show & Share

    Show & Share is your chance to get a closer look at outstanding National Programs and STAR Event projects from chapters around the nation.

  • State Meetings

  • Career Pathway Presentations

    These sessions will provide in-depth information and resources supporting the FCCLA Career Pathways presented by higher education and industry experts.

  • Adviser Professional Development Presentations

    Chapter and State Advisers seeking professional development can find FCCLA-specific sessions on a range of topics presented by FCS State Administrators, FCCLA exhibitors, industry experts, and partners.

  • Career Pathway Demonstrations

    Career representatives will provide hands-on demonstrations to State and Chapter Advisers.

  • Professional Development Units and Continuing Education Units

    Certificates of Professional Development Units (PDUs) for individuals seeking continued certification through the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) will be available. Additionally, up to two Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available to advisers through professional development opportunities. Both certificates of completion will be available at the FCCLA Registration Desk or in the Virtual Backpack.

  • Professional Development through SDSU

    National FCCLA has partnered with South Dakota University (SDSU) to offer one college credit that is graduate-level for non-degree seeking credit. See above under Registration Options for more specific details on registering for this option.

  • Opening General Session

    Join us as we kick off the National Leadership Conference with the National Executive Council. Key events occurring during this session include:

    • Introduction of Current National Officers
    • Presentation of Awards
    • STAR Events National Top Three Awards for approximately 12 Events
    • Introduction of the National Officer Candidates

    Keynote Speaker - Sabrina Thompson-Mitchell

    Sabrina Thompson MitchellListen as Sabrina Thompson Mitchell teaches us about The Power of Your Story. Her interactive talk will help attendees identify, explore and find the importance within their life stores in order to empower themselves and the world around them.

    Sabrina Thompson Mitchell is a director, editor, filmmaker and owner of KUU productions, a media production company specializing in producing commercials, photography and social media campaigns. Her clients range from HBO, Google, AT&T and more. She served as Hillary Clinton’s cinematographer during her Presidential campaign and in 2017 Sabrina was the lead photographer for the historic Women's March in Washington, DC. In addition, her work has been featured in art exhibits stationed in U.S. Embassies around the world.

    Sabrina is the co-founder of WEEN (Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network), a New York City-based women’s non-profit. In addition, she is a former Brooklyn high school teacher and former TV producer for Court Television Network and Columbia TriStar TV.

    She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is runner-up of season 24 of Survivor, the Emmy award-winning show on CBS.   

  • Inclusion, Access, Equity, and Diversity Panel

    National FCCLA is proud to facilitate a discussion on diversity and equity, the impact on society, and how we can lead change in our local communities. Note: The top 20 National Officer Candidates will also be announced during this session.

  • Top 20 National Officer Candidate Speeches

    Listen to the top 20 National Officer Candidate speeches prior to the National Elections.

  • Business/Recognition Session

    The National Executive Council conducts the official business of the organization, reporting on key topics to all members and facilitates the vote on proposed bylaws approved through the National Board of Directors. Join the National Executive Council and peers from across the nation to celebrate the successes of outstanding accomplishments of fellow members, advisers, and chapters. All attendees are welcome.

  • ThinkFast Interactive

    Participate in a fun, high-energy, experiential education and prevention program where teams work together to learn about and answer questions related to teen driver safety, pop culture and other fun topics.

  • Closing General Session

    Close out the conference by recognizing scholarship and other award recipients, say farewell to the 2020-2021 National Executive Council, and welcome the incoming 2021-2022 National Executive Council.
