FCCLA Students Experience Unforgettable Leadership Development at Disney’s Imagination Campus
Orlando, FL — From October 18 - 22, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA©) Members had the unique opportunity to participate in Disney’s Imagination Campus Youth Leadership Workshops. As part of FCCLA’s Fall Leadership Institute (FLI) in Orlando, these workshops offered students an invaluable experience to enhance their leadership and teamwork skills in a dynamic and inspiring setting.
The event kicked off with a high-energy session on October 18, setting the tone for a weekend of personal growth, leadership development, and the unmistakable magic of Disney. One of the highlights of the weekend included two immersive half-day leadership courses led by Disney professionals, where students explored Disney’s renowned approach to leadership and collaboration. These courses gave students firsthand insights into how Disney fosters a culture of teamwork and excellence. "It was amazing to learn from Disney’s leaders and apply those skills in a fun, creative environment. I can’t wait to share these new skills with my fellow FCCLA Members," said one student participant.
Throughout the event, students participated in interactive workshops at Disney’s Imagination Campus, focusing on creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. These hands-on sessions allowed students to apply the leadership skills they had been developing in their Family and Consumer Sciences classes. One student remarked, "The Disney Imagination Campus workshops were life-changing. I’ve learned so much about leadership and teamwork that will help me in my future career." The workshops not only reinforced the leadership principles taught in the classroom but also equipped participants with valuable employability skills. As one adviser noted, "These workshops allowed our students to grow in ways that simply cannot be replicated in a classroom setting. The combination of Disney’s methodology and FCCLA’s focus on leadership is truly powerful."
Reflecting on the significance of the event, FCCLA CEO Sandy Spavone emphasized, "The Fall Leadership Institute at Disney’s Imagination Campus provided our students with an unparalleled opportunity to develop leadership and professional skills. These experiences not only enhance their ability to contribute within their chapters and communities but also equip them with essential tools for success in the workforce and their future careers."
The Fall Leadership Institute wrapped up with a reflective debriefing session, where participants shared their key takeaways and set actionable leadership goals for the future. The combination of leadership training in an iconic Disney setting provided FCCLA Members with tools to enhance both their personal development and future professional endeavors.
